ESOS Assessments

The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is a UK energy legislation that was established to meet the EU Energy Efficiency Directive Article 8. Introduced in 2014, ESOS is designed to help large organisations meet mandatory compliance standards, with the goal of reducing EU energy consumption by 20% by 2020.

ESOS compliance is required every four years across four phases, and involves regular energy audits to help large businesses conserve energy. As we currently move into ESOS Phase 3, our team is well-equipped to perform the necessary energy audits and generate consumption reports, while also serving as the required lead Assessor for ESOS compliance.

Am I eligible?

To meet the criteria for ESOS compliance, businesses must meet one of the following requirements:

  • More than 250 employees

  • A turnover of more than €50m (£44.1m) and an annual balance sheet total of more than €43m (£37.9m)

  • An overseas organisation with over 250 employees in the UK

It's worth noting that ESOS applies to all types of organisations, including corporate bodies, partnerships, and unincorporated bodies engaged in trade. While public sector organisations are generally exempt from ESOS requirements, some universities with significant private funding may still be subject to compliance.
