A Winning Partnership: PSP Helps Godalming BID Secure Early Cost Reductions

Place Support Partnership (PSP) is dedicated to helping the UK’s Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and Local Authorities thrive. We are very excited to share this case study with you. The company has been commissioned to deliver over 100 programmes with BIDs and Local Authorities across the UK and has identified millions in savings since 2021.

Project Overview

Place Support Partnership began working with Godalming BID in early 2025 to help local businesses identify efficiencies and cost savings. The services are free to levy payers and so far, have seen great success in the area.

Local businesses have been impressed with the service, advice and responsiveness they’ve received – particularly valuable at a time when many small businesses are facing rising costs and ongoing economic pressures. The partnership has provided practical support to help them manage costs more effectively and plan for greater resilience.

Results so far

• Within the first month, more than £9,000 in savings were identified for Godalming businesses – effectively making the programme cost neutral from the outset

• 6 months into the programme, PSP has supported more than 25 town centre businesses, identifying over £30,000 in total savings and achieving an assisted saving total of more than £3,000

• One beauty business saved £684 on their energy costs and £909 on water bills

• A health business in the area has benefitted from a £300 saving on energy bills as well as a further £320 saving on their merchant fees
