Supporting the High Street: How the PSP-Southampton BID Collaboration Saved a Local Business £40k

Place Support Partnership (PSP) is dedicated to helping the UK’s Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and Local Authorities thrive. We are very excited to share this case study with you. The company has been commissioned to deliver over 100 programmes with BIDs and Local Authorities across the UK and has identified millions in savings since 2021.

Project Overview

Go! Southampton Business Improvement District (BID) has been working with Place Support Partnership for several years delivering a cost savings service for businesses covering vital savings including gas, electric, merchant fees, water, telecoms, insurance and more.

Southampton businesses have saved £118,246 with some standout savings realised for key high street businesses at a critical time.

KEY RESULTS

• £118,246 of savings identified

• A £40,000 saving for a cocktail bar, The Mailroom, through a a new energy contract following a PSP Business Health Clinic

• 219-year-old family-run shoe store W.J. French & Son, which has saved more than £5,000 on energy bills

• Business health clinics run for local businesses

• Support delivered across a number of sectors across the City

• Savings have been identified in a variety of areas for businesses including electricity, gas, water, merchant fees, insurance and telecoms
