SustainSpelthorne Cost & Carbon Reduction Programme - £250,000 of savings identified for businesses!

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Spelthorne Borough Council commissioned PSP, a specialist in cost and carbon reduction advice, to deliver a project where opportunities were identified to achieve cost and carbon savings to the Spelthorne Business community.

This UKSPF funded project ran for 13 months - beginning in March 2024 - under a dedicated ‘SustainSpelthorne’ brand,and supported by comprehensive marketing and communications strategies involving a broad range of stakeholders.

KEY DELIVERABLES

• Deliver a sustainability programme to help futureproof businesses and cut both costs and carbon

• Build a ‘SustainSpelthorne’ brand with dedicated website and email

• Deliver a programme which is borough wide

• Engage with 1000 businesses

• Build a data set of 200 businesses and identify their sustainability needs identifying 2+ interventions

• Energy efficiency audits to a minimum of 20 businesses

• Conduct user equalities surveys

• Make the service accessible to all businesses Collaborate with Staines BID and other stakeholders

KEY RESULTS

• £252,622 of savings identified for businesses

• £93,338 of realised savings and £115,672 assisted savings

• Over 1000 businesses engaged with

• 200 businesses audited with 2,500 pieces of information collected

PROJECT OUTCOMES

• Engagement with businesses using a mix of face-to face, telephone, email and printed literature

• £252,622 of savings identified for businesses

• £93,338 of realised savings and £115,672 assisted savings

• Over 1000 businesses engaged with

• 200 businesses audited with 2,500 pieces of information collected

• One business, Wrench Studios, saved over £80,000 on gas and electricity costs

• Guardian Home Carers saved over £2,500

• Tarla Cafe saved over £3,000 on electricity costs

• Purpose built website created for the project

• Structured promotional campaigns including email marketing, social media and events

• Social Media posts across LinkedIn, X and Instagram

• Additional promotion of waste services

• Delivery of a communications plan including engagement with key local stakeholders such as the FSB and Staines BID

• Dedicated business advice clinics covering cost savings and carbon reduction
